Through the story, children get to experience the anticipation and joy of a reunion between a little girl and her grandmother. Yiayia, who is Amalia's grandmother, uses several modes of transportation to get to the apartment where Amalia lives with her parents. On her journey, Yiayia experiences some unanticipated hurdles that threaten to derail her visit.
Author Biography
Maria G. Mackavey was born in Greece and grew up in Zambia, Africa. She studied in the US, where she received her BA and MA degrees from the State University of New York at Albany and her doctorate from Boston University. Maria is the author of the children's book "The Artist and the Lava Beast" (2013). She lives in Massachusetts with her husband, their dog and two cats.
