At 22 years of age, Colleen was fit and happy. Then she suffered a cerebral aneurysm. She had only a .06 chance of survival.
The Clancys were advised that there was no specific facility to cater for young people with a medically acquired brain injury, that the only option was a nursing home. They queried why young people struck down by accident, stroke or other illnesses leaving them with an A.B.I. be limited to the choice of an aged care facility for their ongoing care.
Colleen's siblings were passionate about helping, not only their sister, but other young people with an A.B.I. And so began the long haul for Colleen and her family, to get the best possible outcome in all ways for Colleen and others with Acquired Brain Injury.
