by Tony Llewellyn (Author)

Modern Piano Technique is for those who want to fast-track their ability to play piano with a contemporary feel. It is not a book of songs but, as the title implies, a book that will teach you fundamental techniques used in playing contemporary keyboard. If you learned classical music and are frustrated because you've found it difficult to make the switch to contemporary songs, this book is for you. If you've attained a reasonable level of proficiency in playing modern piano and want to round out your performance using modern methods, this book is for you. Modern Piano Technique introduces you to the techniques modern pianists use in the rock piano style, and gives practical examples of how to apply these techniques to a chord progression. In Modern Piano Technique, you will learn how to play modern piano by learning how to pivot, arpeggiate, use major seventh chords, add ninths and elevenths, rock your music, and more.

Author Biography

Tony Llewellyn is an Australian pianist, guitarist and songwriter. He has released several albums of original gospel music, has taught privately, as well as running songwriting and guitar courses at various colleges. Several of his piano pieces were published by Australian and New Zealand Cultural Arts Limited. Author of a number of books including Successful Songwriting, Music Theory For The Contemporary Musician, and Guitarists' Scale Manual, Tony was Music Director of a large church for a number of years. One of the things he has noticed over the years is the number of pianists who have struggled to play modern piano after years of playing classical. Modern Piano Technique was written with the aim of helping people in this situation make the switch to a contemporary keyboard style.
